What a fantastic little mp3
when i ordered this player i was looking for something cheap to use in the gym as my main player is a bit too bulky, i was expecting something plastic and awful.
I find myself very pleasently suprised, the body of the player is all aluminium and it feels very sturdy indeed, the buttons have a good feel to them and seem quite solid, the clip itself is very strong and i can't see much chance of it falling off at any point. The sound quality is also suprising for the price, it's much better then i expecting it to be and the volume is very good, it's almost hard to believe that something that small could be that loud. thus far the battery life seems to be a good 4 hours or so too. One thing that doesn't seem to have been mentioned before that i found quite good is that there is an LED on the top that flashes to let you know when the player is playing or paused.
If you're looking for something to replace an Ipod shuffle then this probably isn't for you, the sound quality doesn't quite compare, but if you're looking for something you don't mind breaking at the gym, it's very good indeed and i would highly recommend

Good but basic
It looks very cool and small, and can clip onto your t-shirt. If like me you use mp3 players mainly while out it is fine. I use it while it while cycling and the sound quality is pretty good. The battery life is also good about four or five hours. However, you can't randmize your music and you can't select individual playlists, you pretty much put music on it and play. That's fine for me but some people may not realise it hasn't got those features.

not too old yet
lovely little gadget - like a bulldog clip - clip onto pocket or lapel. Very small and indiscreet. Easy to transfer music files from PC to MP3 player - no probs even for a silver surfer!!! Great when waiting around in hospital waiting rooms. Now I understand why the younger generations are so keen. Quality music anywhere and no weight at all. Wish I had one when a teenager!!!

My little Nano :)
I have had my ipod nano a few days now and here is my review:
Appearance and general:
This thing is tiny! It has a 1.5 inch screen and is very thin and light. I got mine in a pink colour and it look fantastic!
The battery life is impressive. You can get hours of playback- I think I get about 20...
Loading music on is very easy. You need to install itunes and load up any CDs and then they can be synced onto the device.
Features:
Here are all of the features on the ipod nano:
Playlists.
You simply elet your favourite songs and create your own albums. I find this feature very useful when I just want to listen to half an hour of my favourite songs.
Genius mixes.
This is a feature where, from what you have been listening to and what is in your library, it suggests new songs and albums for you to try. I found this feature good at times but it mostly goes unused.
Music.
This, obviously, is the main part of the ipod. You can select what songs to play via Artists, Songs, Albums, Genres or composers. Music quality is excellent, but I would recommend that you buy some half decent headphones. You can shake to shuffle. There is a voiceover feature, by holding on the button on the apple earphones, it can tell you what song you are listening to and who it is by in a robot voice. I do not use this feature and so did switch to better quality earphones.
Radio.
Not the best. But what, really, can you expect? Some stations have decent quality, like the local stations the nano finds for you. You can select certain stations as your favourites, and then you can find them easily. You can also stop and rewind the radio.
Podcasts.
High quality stuff. There are loads of podcasts to choose from, for free, on the itunes store. It does not play any podcast that are video and not audio, instead you can listen to it whilst you see a freeze frame.
Settings.
You can basically change the brightness wallpaper, set a pedometer goal, change photo settings and other settings.
Photos.
The photos are incredibly high quality. You can play slideshows where they zoom in on the photos.
Fitness.
A basic pedometer. You can also view your pedometer personal bests and your workout totals.
Clock.
As you would expect. Also includes a stopwatch and timer.

The bottom line is that it is a very good divice. Some people may be missing the video and camera features. But I do not. The small size and shape just wouldn't be suitable for video or a camera.
Basically, I LOVE IT!

Tiny but with poor sound quality
I bought 16gb version of this because I thought the size would be great for carrying around, the trouble is the screen is probably a bit too small for easy touch control, but overall the device is well designed with a logical menu structure.

Now to the important bit and were it all starts to go wrong, try hooking this upto a decent pair of headphones and the sound quality really disapoints. The sound is flat with quite poor stereo seperation, in fact I was so dissapointed that I've put it on ebay and got a New Apple iPod touch 32GB (4th Generation) from Amazon. The touch absolutely blows the nano out of the water when it comes to sound quality, you can hear every detail and the music really comes to life.

In summary, this is OK if you need something small and aren't bothered about the sound quality.

Jobs a Good'un
Ok, right then. Its good, its really really good.
I'm not gonna go into detail about its features, you can get hold f them elsewhere. Instead I'll just say its damn good fun and easy to use.
A lot of reviews I've seen seem to see this as a downgrade from the old nano since it lacks the ability to view videos and all that. All i have to say on that matter is yeah, i don't really care since its a music player...so this is just up to you really whether you want it or not.
You can view photos on it though, a feature that i don't use so im not really gonna comment on this though you can imagine itl be typically apple like in functionality (swipe the pics from side to side etc).

So, the music. Its been said, the radio isn't superb at picking up stations but it's all you can expect from a unit that uses the ear phones as an antenna. When it does pick up stations (and it does pick them up well enough (for me at least)) it works really nicely, showing the name of the station your listening too. You can also pause the radio and rewind kinda like sky+. Pretty nice little feature if you ask me. S'all good.

Battery life is good. I typically plug it in every night anyways so i'm yet to experience any issues with battery at all, it makes it through the day fine after many hours of music playing, not exactly quietly..

I'm only gonna recommend this to you if you want a music player. That's what this is and it does it very well, just don't expect it to play a video, take a picture, wash the dishes or walk the dog like your old iPod might have (mine did, anyway). And don't worry about the size cos the touch buttons are all big enough, even scanning through songs is easy, surprising given the size of the button for that..

Ok, the bottom line is i gave it 5 stars cos it does what it does very well. If you want a nice looking, easy to use music player, then this is it (well it's not really since there are so many decent looking and great functioning mp3 players out there but the point is this is an iPod and you want to be able to say you've got one so get this one, ok good).

LOVE the ipod.
My mp3 player that I use in the gym give up so I needed a new player, I wasn't going to buy an apple anything but after reading the reviews on here I thought why not and im so glad I did I LOVE......... IT!!!!!! with a set of in-ear headphones it is perfect for the gym so easy to work and it looks cool I can not recommend this little Apple ipod shiffle enough buy one you will not be disappointed. This is the first time I have ever posted a review on anything I like it that much and Im even thinking of get one in another color.

NEW CONVERT TO IPOD

For just over a year and a half I have been using a Creative MuVo V100 1GB mp3 player, well it finally died on me after a lot of use and being dropped and trodden on by accident. So I decided to try an Ipod and was very surprised indeed, the sound quality is excellent with the right headphones; the ones supplied are awful.
